Tinkering Completed…

Or at least, i’ve achieved what i want.. i’m now able to establish a secured connection to from my workplace to my homepc.. well.. although in the first place they’ve managed to figured out and block it, but after tinkering for a few days i’ve finally found out that there is always a workaround.. and it depends on the person him/herself to exploit it.. sooner or later someone will figured it out, and when the time comes, perhaps i’ll hop to another higher ground.. and uh.. one thing that i notice is that nothing could beat the personal excitement of outsmarting the current restriction.. but i’ll lay low for good now..
for the past few days i’ve been downloading tons of CBT and hopefully i’ll watch it if i had time.. and of course.. motivation.. i’ve even think about purchasing a dual monitor for this purpose.. i don’t really intend to master everything but at least i need to have a picture out of it.. i realised when i pursue knowledge in IT, it’s as if you’re chasing a carrot on a stick… perhaps it also applies in other fields so.. it’s all a matter on passion imho.. InfoTech is an elusive subject full with excitement wrapped in personal geekness and nerdiness!!

OpenSSH – Tinkering in Progress

Hmm… weekends.. I think I’ll spend these few days tinkering mainly on openssh protocol… I’ve setup the server yesterday, although the setup itself isn’t really straightforward and I googled the entire web just to search for the right solution.. took me 2-3hrs and it’s a precious lesson.. I slept at 1AM almost every night, my sorethroat and flu are getting worse.. my health is somehow deteriorating.. signs of getting old.. sigh..

Tinkering around wireless networking has given me a good return.. I utilized the wireless function of singnet’s 2WIRE with my starhub broadband modem.. The 2Wire is a 4-in-one device comprising of adsl modem, a router, a switch and an access point. Of the 4, I can no longer use it as an adsl modem as it won’t work with my starhub cable. I’m no longer can use the the router function as it work between the adsl interface and the ethernet (switch) interface. Since I’m using starhub, I’ll not be using the adsl interface, which then there’s no routing. That also means no NAT hence no sharing.

I’ve applied this config for the past 2 weeks and it gives me no problem but only 1 connection at one point of time.. if I were to buy my PC, I’ll need to buy another wireless router to replace the 2wire.. which I’m thinking of buying it at garbage market.. 2^nd hand stuff WRT54GL will cost ard 30-40 perhaps.. with orig/tomato driver on it.. I don’t really care since the warranty has expired anyway… well I’m currently waiting for the deal so.. no one so far has offered me yet except my colleague, which is asking for 30 bucks.. I think it’s a good deal but I don’t really need it for now.. perhaps later…

Soo… yesterday I’ve a hard time configuring the openssh protocol with the httpd server.. the config file structure itself apparently different from the previous release… following blindly will not get me anywhere..

This ssh tinkering process is ongoing and hopefully by next mon I’ll have a correct & workin configuration setup for both client, server and of course, the browser…

Afraid to Spend Money..

I think I have a sickness where I am afraid to spend money.

 

I always work a lot and I save like every penny I make. Sometimes I will spend money on other people, but not a whole lot, and I never or seldom spend a dime on me. I save a ton, and I always tell myself that I will spend it when I get older, and need it, but I don’t know if I will be able to seriously. Apparently I’m not the only one who’s having this kind of attitude..

Flypage.. Browse Category..

It’s been a hectic week.. i’ve tried to use mostree for categorization but recently just realized that i’ll need the shopping cart function in the near future.. it’s like choosing either orange or apple.. sighs.. well.. luckily i haven’t crop any images yet so the time wasted is not much but in terms of directory system SOBI / MosTree at least i have a good grasp on what to expect and functions to produce….

Hell.. my body is aching, nose’s blocked by flu and cold.. feel like getting an MC but i’ll try not to take if possible… for a whole day i’ve been trying to understand the flypage and browse category function in virtuemart.. i’ve been searching around for premium themes but it’s kinda hard to find… well.. this is one of my goal to get rich or die trying!!!! – ciaoz
