It’s a long weekend and i thought that it’s a good idea to try Solarwinds’ workspace studio and real-time netflow analyzer suite.. after installation and configuring snmp on my routers, i’m able to perform discovery and build charts in almost less than 3 minutes!!.. it’s kinda no brainer stuff.. damn easy to use and it fits my basic requirements; as to monitor my interface bandwidth utilization, link up/down status, its response time and CPU/Mem chart… and the surprising thing is, the studio is bundled with telnet/ssh client and TFTP server too! (there’s more than meets the eye!).. but i think the GUI is not really attractive compared to Spectrum spectro server..
well, what about real-time Netflow Analyzer?, it’s a so-so compared to NetQoS of course.. it’s kinda buggy and it only allows capturing 1hr worth of data.. i’m not sure whether the full version will allow max of how many hours but i personally think that the apps will melt if it tries to analyze tons of GB data every hr in a corporate environment.. well.. overall speaking i’m quite ok with its flow capture but it’s kinda fixed, there’s no option for filter / analyze / zoom into the details using this..
some of configs that requires to be pumped in:
interface FastEthernet0/0
ip flow ingress
ip flow egress
ip route-cache flow
ip flow-export source FastEthernet0/0
ip flow-export version 5
ip flow-export destination 192.168.1.3 2055
