Sigh..
Tried to please everyone and ended up over-committing task on hand.. i often had this problem, in fact.. i recognized this problem since i’ve started working.. sometimes i think that this – “can do” and “helpful” attitude doesn’t seem to be really worth practicing.. especially in my current role and environment whereby ppl can just “suka suka” delegate things around.. this thread is definitely not a complain post but i guess ppl just take my help for granted.. hopefully i’ll revise my attitude in the future.. by perhaps be more “tactful” whenever i face such decision..
Some person just don’t really have the necessary EQ… He ended up scolding me in front of ppl like i owe him debts.. took my previous over-committed word against myself.. i didn’t fight comment back since i knew that it was my fault in the first place.. i shouldn’t over-commit whatever tasks that i can’t / don’t want to deliver… and sometimes helpful attitude also caught me in a very difficult situation.. (remember SVS F5 NLB issue!..)
But in fact i’ve done him almost half a the job assigned.. at first he said himself that he needed my favor.. he explained that he’ll split the task amongst 4 of us, one person in charge of either east/west/ctrl/north region… but in the end… well.. only 2 (me and my colleague) of us do.. (1 backup only on Wed – because i need to attend CPM meeting)
what relieves me is that there’re 4 more days to go for next week… and i…. uh.. because of my over commitment, need to fulfill no matter what…
It’s sure a lessons learnt…
